Not because it is the hottest sauce on the show — it is not, not even close — but because the way its heat lands is unlike anything else in the lineup. At position 8 of 10, it sits between Los Calientes and The Last Dab, and it is where most guests stop holding it together.

What Is Da Bomb Beyond Insanity?

Da Bomb Beyond Insanity is an extract-based hot sauce made by Kansas City Sauce Company. It is rated at 135,600 Scoville Heat Units on the label. Extract-based sauces hit differently to fresh pepper sauces: the capsaicin is concentrated and isolated rather than arriving inside the full flavour matrix of a fresh chilli, which makes the heat feel sharp, chemical, and longer-lasting. This is why Da Bomb produces reactions on Hot Ones that even hotter sauces at position 9 or 10 do not always match.

The flavour is habanero-forward with orange and lime. It is not a pleasant-tasting sauce in the way that a craft fermented chilli sauce is — it is designed to be hot first, flavour second. If you want something to cook with, this is not it. If you want to understand exactly why every Hot Ones guest grimaces at position 8, it is this.

Da Bomb on Hot Ones: The Key Facts

Show position: Seat 8 of 10 in most seasons

Scoville rating: 135,600 SHU

Type: Extract-based (not fresh pepper)

Primary chilli: Habanero pepper mash

Flavour profile: Habanero, orange, lime

Made in: Kansas City, USA

Bottle size: 118ml

How Hot Is 135,600 Scoville?

For context: a jalapeño sits at 2,500 to 8,000 SHU. A habanero lands at 100,000 to 350,000 SHU. Da Bomb at 135,600 SHU is firmly in habanero territory, but the extract concentration means the heat delivery is more intense than a fresh habanero sauce at the same Scoville number. Most people who consider themselves tolerant to hot food find it a significant step up from anything they have tried before.

Buying Da Bomb in the UK

Da Bomb is an American product and is not widely stocked in the UK.
